Migraine Headache Relief

09/15/2022

Many people suffer from the occasional headache. All headaches are painful and disruptive to your day, but some are worse than others. Migraines are the most painful type of headache, and this can be more than just a little disruptive to your day. Migraines are headaches that cause intense pain and throbbing in your head. Nausea, vomiting, faintness, and extreme sensitivity to light and loud noises are also symptoms. There are many things you can do to recover from a migraine faster, and here are some of the best migraine headache relief tips.

If you regularly suffer from migraine headaches, try these tips. You can always try to beat it with a small dose of pain medication such as aspirin or acetaminophen. A small dose of over-the-counter medication can nip your migraine headache in the bud if you catch it in time. An ice pack in a dark or dimly lit room can do wonders for your pain, and it can help you become more relaxed.

Use An Ice Pack Or Hot Compress

Try placing an ice pack on your forehead to relieve the front and center throbbing pain. Gently place it over the most painful area for 15 minutes, then take a 15-minute break. You can also place a hot compress or ice pack on the back of your neck to help ease the pain.

Relax in a Dim, Quiet Place

A dim, quiet place can be hard to find in the middle of the day if you are suffering from a migraine attack, but this is one of the most helpful recovery tactics you can try. Find a quiet area that you can use to shut your eyes for as long as you need. Ease the tension in your eyes and ears with some peace and quiet.

Ease All Tension

Easing the strain on your eyes, ears, and the head is essential to recovery. If you are wearing a ponytail, take the elastic out and gently massage your head. A tight ponytail is a great look, especially for a busy morning, but the tension from a too-tight ponytail can be one of the main causes of your migraine. Even if it isn’t the main cause, it certainly isn’t going to help you.

Hydrate

Sip on a cool glass of water. Hydration is key to helping your body feel good and it helps regulate things like body temperature and deliver proper nutrients to all the cells in your body. If you have something like Pedialyte on hand, that will get electrolytes working to replenish your body from dehydration and significantly reduce the ache you may be getting from lack of fluids.

Drink Some Caffeine

Caffeine in moderation can also help decrease the pain you are experiencing from your migraine headache. It can also make over-the-counter medication like acetaminophen be more effective as well.

Be careful not to overdo the caffeine, because caffeine withdrawals can cause headaches too. Caffeine, just like everything in life, is a great thing in moderation, but too much can cause its own problems.

Over-The-Counter Medications

At your first symptom of a migraine headache, take an appropriate dose of an over-the-counter pain reliever. Often you can avoid more intense pain by catching it early enough. When looking for these medications at the pharmacy, read the labels carefully to make sure you are getting the right choice for you. If you have heart or kidney problems, ibuprofen and anti-inflammatory pain relievers will cause more harm to you, so opt for a medication you know is safe to take with your condition.

Liquid medication will absorb into your body faster, so if you’re looking for a faster response to your pain, go with liquid acetaminophen targeted toward migraine headache relief.
